The General tab contains options that let you modify settings that are specific to the chart style’s chart type. For example, you can change the bar outline type for bar charts or the color of the gauge for gauge charts.
The following describes the general chart styles options for vertical bar, horizontal bar, and gantt charts.
Click this drop-down menu to select one of the following bar outline types:
• None—The bars have no outline.
• Lighter—The bar outline is a lighter shade of the bar’s color.
• Darker—The bar outline is a darker shade of the bar’s color.
• Color—The bar outline is a specified color.
When the Color option is selected as the Bar Outline Type, click the color box to select a color to use. For procedures on selecting a color, refer to Choosing colors.
Single Series Multicolor ModeIf the chart includes only one series, select this check box to make each bar in the chart a different color, selected from the colors specified on the Colors tab. If this check box is not selected, each bar in a report with only one series will be the same color.
The following describes the general chart styles options for line, pareto, and line/bar combo chart styles.
Click this drop-down menu to select one of the following bar outline types:
• None—The bars have no outline.
• Lighter—The bar outline is a lighter shade of the bar’s color.
• Darker—The bar outline is a darker shade of the bar’s color.
• Color—The bar outline is a specified color.
Note: This option does not display when editing a Line chart style.

Click this drop-down menu to select the width, in pixels, of the lines used in the chart. You can choose a number between 1 and 6 pixels.
Click this drop-down menu to select a symbol to be used where lines meet key points. You can choose None, Small Square, Square, Square Outline, Dot, Round, Round Outline, or Triangle.
The following describes the general chart styles options for x–y plot chart styles.
Enter the size of the bubble as a percentage.
Note: This field is available only when bubbles are used in the x–y plot chart.
Click this drop-down menu to choose a style for the bubble. You can select 3D, Fill Only, Outline Only, or Outline and Fill.

Click this drop-down menu to select the width, in pixels, of the lines used in the chart. You can choose a number between 1 and 6 pixels.

Select this check box to fill the area below the line with a solid color.

The following describes the general chart styles options for gauge chart styles.
Click the Background Color box to open the Color window and select a background color for the gauge. Refer to Choosing colors.
Click the Gauge Color box to open the Color window and select a color for the gauge. Refer to Choosing colors.
Select this check box to show a border around the gauge. If cleared, no border will be shown.
When you select the Show Border check box, click the Border Color box to choose a border color. For procedures on selecting a color, refer to Choosing colors.
Select this check box to show the color range as a reference at the top of the gauge.
This section defines the attributes of the color ranges in the gauge.
Click a color box to open the Color window and select a color for the range. Refer to Choosing colors.
