Scale tab

You can modify settings on your chart style’s Scale tab to change attributes for the scales shown on charts. For example, you can select where the scale is displayed, select different fonts and labels for the scale, and specify minimum and maximum values for the scale.

The following describes the options available on the Scale tab.

Select the scale positions by selecting the Bar Left, Line Right or the Line Left, Bar Right radio button. Scales determine the interval that grid lines are set at.

Note: This option does not display when editing high–low or pareto chart styles.

Select the On Left or On Right radio button to position the scale to the left or right of the chart.

Note: This option displays only when editing high–low chart styles.

If Scales Synched, Hide Line Scale

Select this check box to automatically hide the line scale if the bar and line scales display the same range.

Note: This option does not display when editing high–low or pareto chart styles.

Select this radio button to set values for the chart’s bar scale.

Note: This option does not display when editing high–low chart styles.

Select this radio button to set values for the chart’s line scale.

Note: This option does not display when editing high–low chart styles.

Select this radio button if you want RightNow to automatically deter­mine the values for tick lines in the value axis of your chart.

Select this radio button to manually determine the values for tick lines in the value axis of your chart.

This section allows you to define scale value options. The options vary depending on whether the Bar Scale or Line Scale radio buttons are selected, and if the values are set automatically or manually.

Max Number of Major Tick Lines

Enter the maximum number of major tick lines you want generated for this chart.

Note: This option does not display when selecting line scale values.

Number of Minor Tick Lines

Enter the maximum number of minor tick lines you want generated for this chart.

Note: This option does not display when selecting line scale values.

Percent over Max Value

Enter the percentage of white space you want over the highest data item in the chart.

Note: This option displays only when automatically setting scale values. This option does not display when editing pareto chart styles.

Minimum Value

Enter the minimum value (value of the bottom tick line) used in your chart.

Note: This option does not display when editing pareto chart styles.

Maximum Value

Enter the maximum value (value of the top tick line) used in your chart.

Note: This option does not display when editing pareto chart styles.

Select this check box to use a logarithmic scale based on your report data.

Note: This option does not display when selecting line scale values or when editing pareto chart styles.

Select this check box to show the major tick marks on the chart.

Note: This option does not display when selecting line scale values.

Select this check box to show minor tick marks on the chart.

Note: This option does not display when selecting line scale values.

Select this check box to display the labels for the scale.

Click this drop-down menu to select a degree to rotate the label text. Your choices are 45, 30, 15, 0, -15, -30, and -45 degrees (clockwise).

Click in the Font box to open the Choose Font window to select a font, font size, and color for the scale label. Refer to Choosing font attributes.
