Colors tab

Using the options on the Colors tab, you can change the set of colors used for charts and the charts’ background colors. The options available for high–low chart styles are unique, but the options for pie, funnel, line, line/bar, x–y plot, radar, pareto, and horizontal and vertical bar charts are similar.

The following describes the options on the Colors tab when editing a high–low chart style.

This section defines the colors used for the indicators that show whether the values displayed in the chart are moving up or down.

Outline Color

Click the color box to open the Color window to select an outline color for the indicator. Separate boxes are available to define colors for the moving up and moving down indicators. Refer to Choosing colors.

Note: This option does not display when defining colors for the basic high–low chart subtype.

Fill Color

Click the color box to open the Color window to select a fill color for the indicator. Separate boxes are available to define colors for the mov­ing up and moving down indicators. Refer to Choosing colors.

Note: This option does not display when defining colors for the basic high–low chart subtype.

Color

Click the color box to open the Color window to select a color for the indicator lines shown on the chart.

Note: This option displays only when defining colors for the basic high–low chart subtype.

This section defines the attributes of your chart’s background color outside the grid area.

Background Color

Click the color box to open the Color window to select a background color for the chart. Refer to Choosing colors.

Gradient

Click this drop-down menu to select the type of gradient you want the chart’s background color to have. Your options are None, Left to Right, or Top to Bottom.

Gradient Color

Click the color box to select the color you want to use for the gradient. For procedures on selecting a color, refer to Choosing colors.

This section defines the attributes of your chart’s background color in the grid area.

Grid Area Color

Click the color box to select the color you want to use for the chart’s grid area. For procedures on selecting a color, refer to Choosing colors.

Transparency Value

Enter the amount of transparency you want to give to colors as a numeric value between 0 and 255, with 255 being completely transpar­ent (no color).

The following describes the options on the Colors tab when editing pie, funnel, radar, pareto, line, line/bar, x–y plot, gantt, and vertical and horizontal bar chart styles.

To select a color scheme other than the default, which is displayed, click Default to select a color scheme for your bar chart. Your options are Default, Everglades, Ocean, Pastel, Sapphire, SeaSide, Southwest, Stan­dard 16, Standard Translucent, Subdued, or custom color schemes. Refer to Color Schemes explorer for procedures on customizing color schemes.

Click this drop-down menu to select the type of gradient you want the bars in your chart to have. Your options are None or Cylinder.

Note: This option is not available for Pie, Funnel, Radar, Line, Area, or 2D Pareto chart styles.

This section defines the attributes of your chart’s background color outside the grid area.

Background Color

Click the color box to open the Color window to select a background color for the chart. Refer to Choosing colors.

Gradient

Click this drop-down menu to select the type of gradient you want the chart’s background color to have. Your options are None, Left to Right, or Top to Bottom.

Click the color box to select the color you want to use for the gradient. For procedures on selecting a color, refer to Choosing colors.

This section defines the attributes of your chart’s background color in the grid area.

Note: This section is not available for Pie, Funnel, Radar, or Pareto chart styles.

Click the color box to select the color you want to use for the chart’s grid area. For procedures on selecting a color, refer to Choosing colors.
